Title of film: Vice on HBO: Countdown To Extinction
VICE on HBO is an Emmy Award winning news magazine series featuring startling, groundbreaking stories from around the world. This segment digs deep into the issues of overfishing. The crew gains unique access as it films dynamite fishermen in action in Tanzania, boards large industrial longliners and struggling local shark fishermen in Madagascar and goes undercover to reveal the shark fin and sea cucumber dealers.
Cameraman, Field Producer & Fixer
Chris Scarffe doesn’t have one title; he shoots, produces, edits, and directs. Whether above or below water, Chris brings an unmatched level of professionalism and commitment to all aspects of production. With his positive attitude and ability to work in high stress situations and countries, Chris is an invaluable part of a film crew... I was extremely impressed with the quality of his footage.
Jackson Fager, Producer, Vice on HBO
I've spent more than a decade working with field producers from all over the world, and Chris still stands out. We asked the impossible of him, and he delivered. From securing unprecedented access to people and places under tight deadline pressure, Chris always found a way to make it happen. In addition to his creative mind, extensive rolodex of sources, and light touch in sensitive situations, he has the work ethic to match. He was always the first one up in the morning and the last one to go to bed at night, making sure everyone in our crew was fed, comfortable and safe, before starting to plan the logistics of our next day. It's safe to say our story would never have happened without him, and I'm already eagerly anticipating the next story I can collaborate with him on.
